Millions of Capable Women Are Excluded from the Beauty Industry : Youth unemployment in Indonesia stands at 16.8% (BPS), with many young women—especially those from rural or urban-poor areas—struggling to access opportunities in industries like beauty. They often lack the foundational skills, networks, and support systems needed to enter the sector, leaving a large pool of capable women overlooked and excluded from meaningful career pathways.
The Gap: Salons Need Talent, But Lack Training Academies: At the same time, many salons are eager to hire well-trained employees but do not have the capacity or infrastructure to run their own training programs. Over 70% of beauty salons in Indonesia are micro or small businesses (BPS, 2022), and most of them lack formal training academies or structured onboarding systems. This creates a significant skills mismatch: salons need qualified staff but cannot train them—while thousands of jobseekers remain unprepared for salon work.
